Il penultimo di Raffaello da Montelupo, ancora visibile oggi nel cortile dell’angelo, era in marmo con le ali in bronzo, poi nel 1753 arrivo quello totalmente in bronzo di Peter Anton von Verschaffel. Scultore fiammingo attivo a Roma nel XVIII secolo creò l’angelo nell’atto di rinfoderare la spada.
