Pasquino and street sweeper, two mythological figures! :D
Pasquino is the most famous talking statue in Rome, which became a characteristic figure of the city between the 16th and 19th centuries.
At the foot of the statue, but more often around the neck, sheets containing satires in verse were hung in the night, aimed at anonymously stinging the most important public figures. They were the so-called “pasquinate”, from which emerged, not without a certain spirit of challenge, the popular discontent towards power and the aversion to corruption and the arrogance of its representatives.
