This is truly a Rome that no longer exists, as stated on the plaque at the top left we are in Piazza San Marco. If after taking this photo we had turned left and then left again, circling Palazzetto Venezia still in its original position, we would have arrived in Piazza Venezia. If we had decided to go straight on, following via della Pedacchia, we would have arrived at the Campidoglio shortly after, if instead we had gone right, past piazza San Marco and the street of the same name, we would have taken via delle Botteghe Oscure. I hope the position is clear, below I’ll put the photographer’s position today and an extract from the map of the time. :)
