A beautiful snapshot, with the basilica peeping out from the walls behind Porta Asinaria and the carts ready to enter the city through Porta San Giovanni. A tram continues its run in the right arch. Porta San Giovanni is one of the doors that open into the Aurelian Walls of Rome, and owes its name, unchanged over time, to its proximity to the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano.
